6/18/18 - Monday - Green Turtle Bay (Grand Rivers Ky) to Paris Landing State Park (Buchanan Tn)

Well....in yesterdays

blog I wrote of my great marine HVAC abilities.  Hmmmm....maybe not so much. Ugh.  The AC unit was still acting up last night and this morning and tripping the breaker when cycling down.  After posting on the Marinette FB page to get some advice, it was recommended by Tom that we call Joe who he claims is the best hvac guy in the area.   We called Joe and he walked me through a couple of things to try, no success though :-(.  He stated that if I could get the boat over to him at Kentucky Dam Marina (about 5 miles away in the direction we were planning to head anyhow) that he could look at it this morning.   Off I went with the boat to head over there.   In the meantime, Renee took our friend, Byron (Bright Angel Captain) to drop off their car to have service done.  Byron’s wife, Cynthia, became ill recently and was admitted to the hospital in Paducah.  We told Byron that he was welcomed to use our car for the 3 weeks that we would be cruising the Tennessee River.   He was very appreciative since their car will be in the shop for several days and he needed to get back and forth to the hospital.   On a good note, Byron has agreed that they will drive our vehicle to drop it off at the marina where we choose to end the trip and leave the boat 🤭🤗 This is GREAT news that will save us $$ as well as considerable time where we would have had to rent a car and drive back and forth to retrieve our vehicle, go back to the boat to unload/prep for storage etc.    The boating community sure are great folks!
After 3 hrs at Kentucky Dam Marina with Joe troubleshooting and working on the AC it was determined that the mother board on our unit is malfunctioning and telling the water pump to turn off before the compressor turns off.  The worse news is that there are no parts readily available for our older unit.  Good news though....Joe came up with a Mcguiver solution/fix.  By switching around a couple of wires he was able to make it so the water pump remains on the whole time that the AC is running.   This should solve our problem at least on a temporary basis and get us through the next several weeks 🤞
Finally back on the water at a little after noon we are heading South down Kentucky Lake/Tennessee River.  We had communicated and planned to stop off at Kenlake Marina (20 miles upriver) to visit with fellow Marinette FB friend who owns a 41’ Marinette and has boated it up and down the TennTom to the Gulf a couple of times.  We had a nice visit, tour of his boat (BIG and nice!), and of course our mandatory ice cream cone 🍦
On down the River we went for another 30 miles or so to arrive at Paris Landing State Park at about 6:30PM.   There we had some good conversation with a boater who just purchased their cruiser and were bringing it down to Pickwick area from Lake Barkley.  Dinner of brat patties and grilled asperagus hit the spot after a long day.  After Showers, coffee, anchor and rode shopping online and updating of the blog we are ready for bed.
Sweet dreams of what tomorrows adventures will hold in store.  Plans are for a fairly long travel day of about 70-80 miles.
Last sunrise at Green Turtle Bay for a while.
This is the culprit, looks like we will need to replace this antique.
The air conditioner back in one piece, still not functioning right :-(
Phone foggy from cooling in the fridge(it overheats on the fly-bridge).  Kenlake "ice cream" stop.  Also visited fellow Marinette owner, Rudy Stakeman.

Back out on the lake!

The sailing armada we passed!
Now that's bath water! "TWTR"  is water temperature which was 88.7 here!
